The Lower Kersal Young People and Community Group was set up in July 2004, to provide meaningful activities for young people and members of the community in Salford.
The group has multiple major strands to its projects, these include;
- Allotment Projects – Organically growing fruit & vegetables, teaching new growing techniques and promoting wellbeing through our community green space.
- Cooking & Healthy eating – Including putting young people and volunteers through food safety qualification, as well as discussing the importance of a nutritious meal.
- Community Engagement – Trips to local cinemas and pantomimes, awards ceremonies and other events.
- Film, Arts and Media Projects – Including film, drama, podcasts, visual arts and creative arts.
- Line Dancing group.
- Sewing Knitting and Nattering group.
The group also offers opportunities & mentoring to any and all community members, young and old alike.
In August 2021, L.K.Y.P.C.G began receiving support from The Henry Smith Charity, which has helped with the groups core running costs.
In June 2019, L.K.Y.P.C.G had received a grant from The Community Fund, which has secured our operations for the next 3 years and enabled us to pursue new and engaging projects.
In June 2018, L.K.Y.P.C.G began receiving support from Tudor Trust, which has helped with the groups core running costs.
The L.K.Y.P.C.G has been funded now for several years, thanks to the kindness of Vegware, enabling us to keep our allotment project running and helping members of the community to learn new gardening skills.
